Story

Early Life

Originally, Erica was part of the 8th Descent that took place over 200 years before the events of NieR:Automata. She ended up deserting and joining Rose's Resistance where they looked after each other like family, with Rose even giving them names to symbolize their bond.

Pearl Harbor Descent

About 200 years later, she and her team come across the survivors of No.2's squad during the Pearl Harbor Descent Operation. She is characterized as irritable, impatient, and distrusting towards the group. As the two groups attempted to share information about the machine server on Mount Ka'ala, Erica argued with No.21, repeatedly telling her to get to the point, and mumbled over her omitting the important parts.

Despite her early suspicions, Erica followed Rose's decision to cooperate with the YoRHa squadron. Erica and the rest of the Resistance become close with the YoRHa units after Lily is cured of the Logic Virus infection by No.21.

During the final mission to infiltrate the machine server room, Erica joined the group in the descent via the mountain elevator. On the way there, they shared stories of their simulated pseudo-memories, in which Erica discloses hers involved growing up on a battlefield after her parents were killed, like Shion.

When Erica and the others reached the final floor, the server room, they encountered the Red Girls who summoned a massive, eight-legged machine. Erica fought on a flank alongside Shion and Gerbera. She is the first of her group to fall in the chaos of the battle when the machine uses its powerful legs to swipe at her, completely crumpling her left side and killing her instantly.

The Red Girls then used the Logic Virus to reanimate her and her comrades' corpses, in which the infected Erica became a silent, expressionless puppet that turned on her remaining allies, slitting Sonia's throat in the process. She is then killed by a heartbroken No.2 who mows her down and sends her half-crushed head flying through the air.
