Seed is a character from the original two iterations of the YoRHa stage play, Ver.1.0 and Ver.1.1, who was written out in subsequent versions. She was also in the YoRHa—VER. 1.05 novella.

She was an experimental YoRHa unit used to test the equipment of prototype YoRHa units.

Story

Early Life

Seed was part of a previous generation of YoRHa models before No.2 that had been deployed three times to Earth. Even though her chassis was worn down and covered in scars and irregular parts, she was not retired as an android and continued to work with YoRHa to avoid the emptiness of no longer being on the battlefield. She has simulated pseudo-memories of meeting and living with humanity on the Moon.

YoRHa

On November 15, 11941, when No.2 wasn't doing well in battle simulations, Seed met her for the first time in an experimental training facility within the Bunker and gave her encouragement. She reassured her that as a "common android" she had endless room for growth. Afterwards, she became close with No.2 and served as a mentor figure for her, and they shared many private conversations together, which, according to Commander White, she ordinarily didn't do with other units.

She was made to endure stress tests that were supposed to help develop the standardized YoRHa androids. As an experimental unit, Seed knew that she might not survive, but she allowed it to happen because the data gained from it could help the others, eventually resulting in her death. In the event of her death, she left a recording for No.2, in which she says that the Earth returned to its natural state and wonders if humans were the bad ones after all. She questions if her memories of living with humans were fake, yet even so feels their purpose as androids fighting for humanity. However, she requests for No.2 to find her own reason to live and not follow in her footsteps, thanking her for everything.

Her death is covered up by Commander White as an "accident" from testing new equipment, much to No.2's doubt and grief.
