Operator 6O (pronounced six-oh) is a communications Operator permanently stationed in the Bunker with other Operators of YoRHa. Her duties include sending directives and other information to YoRHa androids in the field.

Appearance

Though her physical appearance is nearly identical to her fellow Operators, she wears braids in her hair, giving her a single physical distinction.

Personality

6O is a sweet-hearted, outgoing, and energetic girl who cares about her duties in supporting YoRHa units, especially unit 2B. She suffers emotionally from never getting to leave the Bunker and see the Earth for herself, which makes her feel slightly envious of field units. She dreams of being able to travel the surface someday and greatly appreciate 2B's gestures of sending her pictures of flowers like the Desert Rose (Lunar Tears in the anime) and describing outside scenery to her. She is compassionate to those she's supporting, so much so that she often sends them gifts and thank-you letters, and empathizes a lot with their struggles. 6O also loves gossip, such as gossiping about Commander White's sloppy clothing habits, and fashion. She has some romance troubles that causes her to cry on transmissions.

Story

NieR:Automata

Operator 6O is responsible for 2B as her assigned Operator, and is bright—albeit a bit scatterbrained and erratic—friendly, and personable. It is not uncommon for 6O to contact 2B regarding matters unrelated to missions in an informal manner, in clear contrast with the more stoic and impersonal Operator 21O with 9S. Unable to leave the Bunker, she harbors curiosity as to what life is like on Earth. In May 11942, she, alongside 2B, asks G4 for his coordinates and dispatches 2B with other standard YoRHa units to recover survivors of the M Squadron.

A side quest is available regarding a request from 6O that 2B send her picture of flowers from Earth. 2B can successfully complete this side quest by locating a Desert Rose in the Desert.

She often checks in with 2B between missions, but is often distracted by human things, like horoscopes for example. Once she asked another Operator out on a date, but she denied, so she called 2B in tears to let off steam.

During the escape from the Bunker following the Logic Virus outbreak in Route C, 2B and the others will pass by 6O's personal quarters. If the player finished 6O's quest, an extra dialogue will trigger in which the corrupted 6O thanks 2B for the flower.

6O is one of numerous YoRHa casualties, the result of the Logic Virus outbreak on the Bunker.

The Memories of Puppets

In the concert story, Lies, 6O aids 2B in an operation in which she gets momentarily disconnected from 2B when 2B gets ambushed in a trap by the machine lifeforms. In that time, the machine network impersonates 6O, where 2B sees through their ruse and they torment 2B using 6O's voice. 6O manages to reconnect to 2B, asking if she was alright, to which 2B affirms without letting 6O know what transpired.

Voices from the Verge

During 9S's Perspective in Voices from the Verge, after the destruction of the Bunker, 6O's subsequent death, and the emergence of the Tower, the consciousness data of 6O and 21O find themselves in a Copied-Citylike cyberspace. They find 2B's damaged consciousness data there, where they recover it and send it to the human server on the Moon in hopes that someone can someday restore 2B, accomplishing their last duties as Operators before disappearing with the collapsing cyberspace.

In a side story, 2B describes the outside scenery for 6O since she never gets to go outside for herself. In the anime version of events, 6O, under control of the Logic Virus, is killed by Commander White in regret.
